In line with the Federal Government’s ban on public meetings of over 500 people and the latest advice from the Department of Health we have decided to postpone our Music in the Air Concert until the threat from Covid-19 has run its course.

We feel this decision is in the best interests of all and has been taken in conjunction with the South Side Symphony Orchestra.

A more detailed account from the Chairman of the Music in the Air Concert Committee will be forwarded to members of the Rotary Club of Attadale later today.

ACE is back!
The Rotary Club of Esperance Bay is proud to be hosting Adventure Camp Esperance in April 2020 (ACE 2020). ACE 2020 is a week-long camp for adults with disabilities from our own region.
“We had such a great response from participants and the wider community for Adventure Camp Esperance 2017, the Club thought it was time to do it again.” said Club President, Heather James.
ACE  2020 is an opportunity for participants to have a break from their usual activities and experience living in a camp situation. “Some people may not ever have been on a camp or been away from their family or primary carer for such a long period. For others, camp will offer activities they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to experience.
“An important aspect of ACE is the respite it will provide to the families or carers of the camp participants, an opportunity to know that they can have a break and that the person they care for is in a safe environment and having a great time.”
Each camp participant will be matched with a one on one volunteer support worker who will encourage and guide them throughout the week. This person will be their camp friend or buddy for the week.
“We are on the lookout for people who are willing to take on the role of a volunteer support worker for ACE 2020. It’s a live-in role, staying in the beautiful boarding facilities at the Esperance Anglican Community School. Support workers, along with the participants, will be engaged in a range of fun activities with a trip to Woody Island, sand boarding, a gala dinner and lots of other activities are all planned. It’s a very rewarding role, and a lot of fun, but importantly you are giving a person with a disability, and their family, a fabulous opportunity.” Mrs James said.
The Rotary Club of Esperance Bay is very grateful to the organisations that have provided sponsorship for this event, including Southern Ports Authority, Shire of Esperance Community Grants program, Independence Group, the Rotary Club of Esperance and the Esperance Deep Sea Angling Club.
ACE 2020 is also supported by a range of community groups, small businesses and individuals who are working together to make ACE 2020 a fabulous event.
If you are interested in finding out more about being a volunteer support worker, a camp participant, or would like to assist with the camp in any other way, please contact ACE 2020 secretary, Lee Mackin on 0427 721 006 or landjmackin@westnet.com.au.

Help needed!
Esperance Bay Rotary Club, with the support of a District Grant, is once again running a camp for adults with disabilities from the Esperance region – Adventure Camp Esperance 2020.  But we need a little more help from YOU.
Our pool of nominations for people to attend the camp has a lot more males than females…..so we are looking for more male carers,  and a few more females!  You don’t need to have any experience – you just need to be willing to support and encourage the individual you will be paired with to engage in activities, make friends and stay safe.  It’s a great opportunity to help another family have a break from their usual caring role, and to give your ‘Camper’ an opportunity to shine!
ACE 2020 is being held from Sunday 19th April – Saturday 25th April at the Esperance Anglican Community School.
If you would like to help, or want more information, please contact Lee Mackin on 0427 721 006 or landjmackin@westnet.com.au.
Thank you  to our sponsors, Shire of Esperance, Lotteries West, Independence Group, Esperance Deep Sea Angling Club, Southern Ports Authority, Rotary District 9465 and many local small businesses.
