STEM Project kicks off May – Youth Service Month

The Rotary Club of Mill Point in South Perth, have created a STEM project in lieu of the National Youth Science Forum after their chosen delegate missed out on the trip to Canberra in January.

Following the cancellation of the National Youth Science Forum, Club members, (led by Gerry McGann, Past President) decided that they could offer relevant career advice to the delegate via a mini Science Forum covering all STEM subjects.

Conducted on Zoom, the format will follow the lines of a brief intro, and each RCMP member and other STEM experts will give a three-minutes summary of what he/she studied, what he/she finished up working as for most of their career, highlights of their career, and a rating out of 10, in regard to the fun and satisfaction that their career brought!

RCMP members will then offer their overview/experience on the following subjects/areas:
* Zoology and Botany
* Mineral  production
* Civil Engineering
* Electrical Engineering
* Oil exploration and Production
* Information Technology
* Petroleum Engineering
* Architecture
* Forestry

A Q & A session will follow with the delegate (and parents), giving the opportunity for the delegate to contact any individual professional for more details in the future.

RCMP are happy to share, and/or discuss the program with any other Clubs in the area, for further details or information contact Gerry McGann on 0438642738 gerrymcgann@iinet.net.au
