Better Beginnings

Better Beginnings supports parents in reading to children so that they build the early literacy skills they need to become good readers and succeed at school.

How can Rotary be involved?  We can be involved by talking about the importance of literacy to family and friends, and by volunteering to assist:

In libraries   [a Working with Children Check Card is required]

In schools   [a Working with Children Check Card is required]

    In your own extended family

Opportunity to fund ‘Better Beginnings’ pack at your local Library.

Ask your Library about how Rotary can get involved.  There may be an opportunity to assist with the funding of the “Better Beginnings” book pack.  If this is agreed your Library may agree to add information about Rotary into the bag, by including a Rotary book mark advising parents that Rotary has supported this literacy initiative.
