Rotary International District 9465 News
Thoughts / ideas from John Garmony

I have been thinking. Our meetings & charitable activities have been suspended. WHAT DO WE DO NOW?   Rotary’s purpose is to help better our community & in adversity we should continue our work.
To assist clubs in their efforts to maintain membership engagement during this difficult time, we have a Contacts Register (log-in required) of Rotarians who have volunteered to assist and guide clubs as they explore virtual meetings.
The Rotary WA Cord Blood Bank  - Our Rotary Centennial Project is the Rotary Centenary gift to the WA community from the Rotary Clubs & Rotarians of WA.
In 2005, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Rotary International’s foundation, Rotarians in WA committed to raise $6M to establish the Rotary WA Cord Blood Bank as a special gift to the people of WA

COVID-19 Virus and Rotary
Message from District Governor Wayne Milnes

With measures taken by the Australia Government to combat the spread of the COVID 19 Virus, clubs and members have to    look at alternatives to regular meetings.

The latest announcement yesterday that Pubs, Clubs and Restaurants are to close except for takeaway service impacts on most clubs, refer https://www.sbs.com.au/news/scott-morrison-orders-restaurants-gyms-and-pubs-to-close-under-drastic-new-measures

With limitations on meeting we have to be flexible and look at all alternatives.

I ask all members who are comfortable in the use of the methods listed below to supply their names and contact details for a register that Clubs and members can call upon for assistance

Zoom
Please refer to the following link with regards to a You Tube video advising how to set up a Zoom account and also a Zoom meeting

As we move through the next few months we need to look after ourselves, our families, our members and our communities.

I am also seeking ideas from members on how we can continue to service our communities during this time and would like to set up a list of ideas for members to access.

To keep the message short I am asking members to

1. Look at alternative methods of communicating eg Zoom or What's App but not limited to just these

2. Looking for champions of the above and other methods to go on a register to assist clubs and members

3. Looking for ideas from members on how we can service our communities.

I am also asking for Presidents to keep in close contact with their Assistant Governors and each other in your cluster groups

One thing we have learned over the past few weeks is that the present situation is dynamic and constantly changing. Please stay up to date with changes and adjust accordingly.

This a time to look after yourself, loved ones and the community with a lot of uncertainty and worry in the community. As Rotarians we are in the position as a group to provide guidance and assistance to our community and if required leadership.

We are an organisation that has survived many events in the last 115 years and by continuing to support each other and the community will survive the current crisis.

Many thanks

Wayne Milnes
